I now have 12 days left at work….
So I need to know- what does one do on maternity leave?
I aim to do one “active” thing a day- short cycle, walk or swim at the local pool, and I will also aim to see friends for tea and scones where I can (although I’m still working on meeting more mummies and mummies-to-be who will be off work when I am). There are lots of little tiny jobs around the house (filing, painting window frames etc) which I may feel like doing too. But sort of that I have no idea how I will fill my time.
I am trying very hard not to be worried about getting our car back in time for the next wedding trip. We have a 500mile plus round trip to do in 5 days time, and our car is not ready. The garage are waiting for some parts after the crash I had a couple of weeks ago, and we were supposed to get our car back a week ago. Our courtesy car is a 1L Peugeot 107, and I’m not sure we’ll fit everything in. We’ll need our suitcases for 4 nights away, including smart things for the wedding, the hospital bag with all the baby things, the car seat and pram base and the cat in his basket, the litter tray etc as he is going for a cat holiday at my parents. There is pretty much no way that will all fit in the car with the two of us, so I’m getting a bit worried!
What a mad couple of weeks!
We’re now three weddings down for the year, and luckily I absolutely didn’t bawl like a baby (how apt) through the beautiful reading I did (Brides choice!) at J&G’s wedding. Oh no…..
Lets blame hormones (not the beautiful teary eyed bride and groom or my immense happiness!)
There must be a decent photo of the bump somewhere, but the wondeful photographer Ange ( Ange Harper Photography) took a couple of nice shots of the face 🙂
Oooh ok, here’s a little one I nabbed from her website:
Saw the midwife today for 24 week appt (2 weeks late!) which was all good. In 2 weeks I get jabbed by many needles (anti-D, Whooping Cough and have bloods done). Nofun!
Lots more going in including a huge appetite, hillarious weight gain, far away toes and starting pregnancy yoga finally which is brilliant!
Although I’ve not been out so much on the bike day to day, I have two weekends running been out for a cycle around the forest. Last weekend the husband and I went out together (he went back to do some proper mountainbiking), and then this weekend we went together then split up so he could do some real mountainbiking whilst I pottered. I had so much fun out by myself. I felt like myself, like I was independent and capable!
Well, 25 weeks tomorrow technically.
Today I’m a bit frustrated as I had my midwife appointment booked in. I turned up to find that the doctors receptionist had booked me in for 3rd July rather than June. They seemed to think that I should know this as the midwife is apparently only in our surgery on Wednesdays, so there was no way it could have been today. However, I knew the appointment needed to be at 24 ish weeks which was actually last week and this was the first date she gave me that I could do! We’ve got me booked in for next Wednedsay, but I am a bit annoyed. I’ve requested my MatB1 form which I need for work (supposed to go to them at 25 weeks I think) and will now be 2 weeks late, and for a letter as we are flying the weekend after next and the airlines can be quite fussy and worried about pregnant people and flying!
We enjoyed a brilliant wedding of close friends at the weekend. The pregnancy somewhat took over:
– I sobbed through my reading
– My breasts have apparently decided to grow and took over all photos of me
– I am still recovering from a late night and a little dancing 2 days later……
Luckily it was gorgeous outside yesterday so I didn’t do too much, though I found myself laughing and crying hysterically last night which was pretty exhausting!
And this is what the bump-o-doom now looks like! I’ve still got ages to go…… how big can I get?
